In Fine Collection

By Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost & Dominique Perrault for DCW éditions

In Fine Collection

Ten years after DCW éditions first drew the tube out of the French power station and made it a manifesto, its authors return to close the subject. In The Tube treated the tube as an object; In The Tube 360° extended the enquiry; IN FINE settles it. The gesture recedes, the drawing goes quiet, and the light itself moves to the centre — continuous, enveloping, adjustable and never once spectacular. It is, as the name suggests, a conclusion.

Meet the Designer

Dominique Perrault's signature is a rare thing to encounter on a domestic object. The architect behind the Bibliothèque nationale de France works, with design director Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost, in metal and mesh at the scale of buildings. A collection bearing both their names is something of an event. For IN FINE, the pair have pursued a single idea: the domestication of raw industrial power, stripped of its harshness and rendered comfortable, gentle and precise.
